FittaMamma: Fit Pregnancy Experts

FittaMamma was launched to help Mammas-to-be. Wonderful, inspirational women (just like you!) who are nurturing a new human being and want to give that special individual the best possible start in life.
We’re passionate about encouraging women to stay fit during pregnancy, keeping active and choosing a well-balanced nutritional pregnancy diet –  an active pregnancy brings so many benefits to you but most importantly, it will benefit your baby too.

The FittaMamma Story

Of course, it started with a pregnancy! FittaMamma founder Alexandra McCabe was excited to become an aunt and was determined to help support her sister-in-law enjoy a  fit and active pregnancy.

But what seemed like an obvious choice to benefit both mother and baby proved surprisingly difficult.

Alexandra simply couldn’t find any stylish maternity fitnesswear that would look good and support her sister-in-law’s growing baby bump. And whilst the clothes were important, she needed information too! Despite hours of searching she couldn’t find an accessible one-stop website with information about exercise in pregnancy, prenatal yoga, pregnancy Pilates combined with good down to earth advice about pregnancy nutrition.
Yet the more she learned about pregnancy and exercise the more she understood the importance of staying fit and looking after yourself – for both mother and baby.
She realised the only way to conclude her search was to find a way to meet the need herself  – not just for her sister-in-law but for all those other Mammas-to-be that wanted to stay fit during pregnancy.  As she says, ‘Pregnant women need and DESERVE stylish supportive maternity activewear to make them feel good about choosing to exercise during pregnancy. Providing the information to support this became an essential part of what I wanted to do’.

The next step was to reach out to experts in all the different fields where she needed support. Experts in clothing design, experts in pre and postnatal fitness, experts in prenatal yoga, pregnancy Pilates and nutrition for pregnant women. Alexandra spoke to midwives and enlisted the help of numerous pregnant women to test the clothes, finally launching the unique FittaMamma range, carefully designed to lift , hold and support where it’s most needed to enable pregnant women to stay active with style and comfort throughout their pregnancy

Alexandra says, ‘I was so excited when FittaMamma was born and we could start supporting pregnant women on their nine month journey. I’ve become passionate about the benefits of an active pregnancy and simply want to share this with as many women as possible. Every woman who wears our supportive fitnesswear is helping to encourage other women that staying active during pregnancy is a positive move for themselves and for their baby.’

The ethos is simple but so important.

Aim for at least 30 minutes exercise every day to benefit both of you – if you already exercise regularly, keep moving and if you’re new to exercise, it’s not too late to start!
